Embroidery in an Embroidery Studio

When you step into my studio there is a small, dark entry area. I decided to paint it several months ago. As in decorative paint.  Of course I am not a painter so I just had fun putting folk images on painter’s canvas and then tacking that up on the wall.

I covered the niche in the middle with gold leaf. Then I decided to tack up odds and ends of embroidery that don’t have a home anywhere else.

I cut this piece from it’s backing with pinking shears, pinned it to the wall, then painted over the edges.

Crewel embroidery, a crepe paper doll costume dipped in wax (in order to see what happens)  felted wool mushrooms and a bamboo whisk.
