Making Faces

I wasn't happy with the first smile I stitched on Claire's face.
So I decided to experiment in Photoshop.
How can such a little bit of line and color say so much in an expression?

  2. My mother is an oil painter; she's done some portraits and says it's very frustrating to see how barely a hair's breadth difference can turn a simper into a snarl - even when the face is eight inches high!

  4. Thanks Rachael. That was my daughter's favorite as well. I decided she was too child like for the character I had in mind for the casket door so she is being replaced! Poor baby. She'll probably show up in a different embroidery at a different time. Can't wait to see what new ideas you are talking about for the new year.
